Why Create a Website With Wordpress?

Using Wordpress is a great way to build a website.

Why?

Oh there are so many reasons. But first, let’s talk about what Wordpress is and what it isn’t:

Wordpress is a Blogging or CMS (content management system) platform. You can use WP to build a blog as an addition to your website or you can use WP as your website (and blog).

–> You can use Wordpress.com, which will allow you to create a blog that is hosted at Wordpress.com.

–> You can use Wordpress.org, which allows you to install everything on your own domain and have access through your site. This is the option I definitely recommend to my clients who want WP for their business.

Wordpress is not a website builder. While website builders are great for those just getting started online who don’t have the skills or want to learn how to build a site, they have a lot of limitations. You can make WP look like a website without having to learn a lot of elaborate website design themes. There are even some great wordpress themes out there (and more coming out all the time) made to look like websites that you can just upload and use.

See a couple of screenshots of wordpress websites I’ve created for clients by customizing pre-made themes:

Some other advantages to using wordpress as a website are:

* easy outsourcing - all you do is create a user ID for your virtual assistant and allow them to log in and edit your site as needed

* easy to change - if you want to change up your website it is pretty easy to change themes and go for a whole new look

* plugins - there are a lot of ‘plugins’ that help make wordpress an easy program to use

* no special software - using wordpress to build a website means you don’t need to buy any special software to edit or build your website
